The Office of Special Events & Protocol was created in July 2011 to execute Institute-level events, set the standards and protocol for event planning at Georgia Tech, and serve as a resource for fellow planners in the Tech community. Since then my colleague, Serena Wallace, and I have committed ourselves to hearing the needs of our campus colleagues and providing resources and solutions to assist them in efficient, exceptional planning.
As we assessed some of the current campus needs, we began to realize that more frequent, timely communication regarding changes or ideas in event-related topics was needed at Georgia Tech. We also realized that while some may have opportunities to meet with other planners across campus to brainstorm and collaborate, many serve as a “planning staff of one,” charged with completing events with limited resources.
While we continue to grow this website and meet with more of you to hear your unique needs, I want you to know we are here to listen, collaborate, share, and commiserate. We are proud to introduce our weekly blog dedicated to sharing tips, resources, and industry insight that contribute to your education, as well as promoting innovation and excellence in your events.
I am committed to sharing pertinent event stories and ideas with you each week and hope you’ll visit us regularly, as well as contribute to the content and discussion. Our event blog is your vehicle for letting us know what’s on your mind and how we can learn more from one another, so we welcome your comments and suggestions.
Thank you for visiting and happy planning!
