The original World of Coca-Cola — located adjacent to Underground Atlanta — opened in 1990 and remained open for 17 years until it was replaced by the current location in downtown’s Centennial Olympic Park in 2007. The World of Coca-Cola has welcomed more than 23 million guests in the past 25 years to share the rich history and tradition of Atlanta pharmacist John Pemberton’s world-famous invention.
The World of Coca-Cola is divided into two levels featuring multiple exhibits showcasing different aspects of the Coca-Cola experience.
Upon entering the main lobby, you are greeted by audio and visual elements welcoming you to the site. The lobby and following loft area can be used for pre-cocktail functions up to 225 people. Multiple LCD screens can be customized for branding, and the artifacts in the loft area are an interesting conversation piece to start your event. We then moved into the Coca-Cola Theater and watched the six-minute film “Moments of Happiness.” This 225-seat theater would serve as the perfect site for an award ceremony or guest speaker. Upon exiting the theater, we entered the main atrium known as The Hub. The Hub encompasses both levels of the site, including six exhibits and a photo opportunity with the Coca-Cola Polar Bear. Exhibits on the first level include Milestones of Refreshment, a walking tour through the history of Coca-Cola from pharmacy treat to its current status as one of the most widely recognized brand icons in the world, as well as the vault where the famous secret formula is secured. The Hub itself can host up to 800 for a reception or 340 for a seated dinner, using multiple landings for seating and/or entertainment. There is also an outdoor patio area allowing for cocktail or beer garden receptions. And of course, you can book the Coca-Cola Polar Bear to make an appearance for your guests!
The second level of The Hub includes exhibits such as the 4-D Theater, Perfect Pauses Theater, and the grand finale at Taste It!, Coca-Cola’s world-famous tasting room. The 4-D Theater is a multi-sensory experience for guests and travels around the world. The Perfect Pauses Theater features a 30-minute reel of vintage Coca-Cola advertisements. The 90-seat theater is also the perfect location to add a fun feature like karaoke to your event. Last but not least, we were led to the famous Taste It! tasting room, where guests can taste more than 100 different Coca-Cola beverages from around the world. There are five tasting stations divided by continent. ECN members got to taste international treats such as Asia’s Fanta Melon Frosty and South Africa’s Stoney Ginger Beer, as well as make new combinations from Coca-Cola freestyle machines. Taste It! is also a fantastic space for a dessert or cocktail reception for up to 225 people. And working with Coca-Cola’s beverage partner, you can dream up as many mixology options as possible for your guests. As we exited the site, each ECN member and guest was treated with our very own glass bottle of Coca-Cola – what a sweet treat!
